Life has always seemed to me like a plant that lives on its rhizome. Its true life is invisible, hidden in the rhizome. The part that appears above ground lasts only a single summer. Then it whithers away - an ephemeral apparition. When we think of the unending growth and decay of life and civilization we cannot escape the impression of absolute nullity. Yet I have never lost a sense osf something that lives and endures underneath the eternal flux. What we see is the blossom, which passes. The rhizome remains. VIDA !

I am Cosmos,

Forest, Placenta.

Constantly contemplating on

one of the themes of

Nietzsche’s philosophy:

Become what you are. —Daniela Busarello, Spring 2026.

Daniela Busarello expresses herself through monumental paintings, sculptures, oracles, drawings, videos, photographs and sounds – works of art imbued with the memory and present-day reality of the places she has visited or where she lives. In these places, she gathers encounters, conversations and everyday materials: plants, minerals, water and earth, which she regards as « testimonials-pigments » that reveal the anthropology, biology, cosmology, philosophy and socio-political dimensions of a place. Her abstract language is inhabited by these « concret-materials », and this ensemble of elements becomes her artistic manifesto.

Born in south Brasil, living and working in Paris since 2007. The artist spent over 20 years working as an architect, urban planner, landscape architect, scenographer and teacher (undergraduate and postgraduate level). She has been an active voice in professional politics, advocating for a balance between nature and the city, the promotion of local culture and character, urban kindness and solidarity, and, finally, the recognition that public space is the responsibility of all its users, not just the government. In the 2000s, she received a national award for her metal house, situated in an urban woodland. This project involved several partnerships and the use of materials that, at the time, were only used in the industrial sector. ~2007. Paris. École du Louvre, Christian de Portzamparc Studio, and subsequently set up her own interior architecture firm. She has worked on private and commercial projects, as well as design projects (Cassina, Ex-Nihilo), textile projects (Manufacture Cogolin) and large-scale installations (Jardin d’Acclimatation-LVMH). ~2010. The male world of Murano: five years and three Maestros later, these experiments would become the Anatomia dell’Oceano sculptures through her encounter with Paolo Crepax.. ~2013-2014. The School of Fine Arts, in particular the classes taught by Jean-Marc Thommen, who encouraged her to develop a personal artistic language: the Cosmografia series of drawings, which explores the connection between each atom and the universe. Exhibitions: Parcours Saint-Germain d’Art Contemporain, Galerie Agnès Montplaisir, and collaborations with artisans and arts and crafts workshops. ~2017. It was a true epiphany (!): from one day to the next, Busarello began oil painting. To explore this transformation, she devoted herself to the series Inner Landscape. Art began to pulse through Heart, and to radiate dialogue, research, biology, neuroscience, archaeology, socio-political observations, philosophy, spirituality, love, healing…

Since 2020, her research is focused on Brazil and its vital role in global balance, due to the richness and abundance of its ecosystems, its waters and its cultural diversity. The Mar Verde series is an ode to the Urban Atlantic Forest, the most devastated in the country, where high-rise buildings and towering trees stand side by side. Busarello creates portraits of these trees, of activists and/or of the invisible beings that protect them. One tree in particular, the Pau-Brasil, is the protagonist of his recent paintings. — Pau-Brasil is the tree that gives its name to the country (Brazil) and its people (Brazilians), which is threatened of extinction. The Cartas às Amazonas series presents a collection of intergenerational correspondence between warrior-healers living along the Amazonas River. The first journey follows the Solimões and Negro rivers (in the state of Amazonas) and the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve. The second is the Amazon, Tapajós, Juruá and Oiapoque rivers, all the way to the Atlantic Ocean (the states of Pará and Amapá, and French Guiana). Busarello engages with political issues (oil and agribusiness), archaeology and cosmologies. Transcending territorial identities, she follows the thread of Water —the source of Life, a symbol of fertility, intuition and metamorphosis, with its infinite capacity for adaptation and change—  a giant placenta, giving birth to the Symbiocene. From Amazonia to the Mer de Glace, to the Islands of Cyprus, Lanzarote and Naoshima; from the Atlantic Forest to Senegal and all the way to the streets of Paris and Curitiba. Her works are poetic reflections on our place —both fragile and precious—  within the grand narrative of life. Busarello credo is Advocate for all forms of life, independently of their nature, beliefs, gender or nationality.

Daniela Busarello is Italo-Brazilian, lives and works in Paris. She has participated in exhibitions at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum and SP-Arte in Brazil; at the Espace Krajcberg, the Abbaye de Maubuisson and the Biennale d’Issy in Paris; at the Fondazione dell’Alberto d’Oro and the Istituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere ed Arti in Venice; at Art Basel Design Miami in Basel; and at PAD in Paris and London. Her works are in private and public collections such as the Mobilier National, the Fondation Thalie, YSL, the Instituto Pedra Branca and the Royal Collection of Jordan.
